This publication is the chosen chapters of the well -known work of the outstanding English philosopher and psychologist James Sally (1842–1923) The original name is “Essay on laughter: its forms, causes, development and values” (“Anessay on Laughter: Its Forms, Its Causes, Its Development and Its Value”, 1897) The book was translated into Russian by the writer, poet, philosopher, publicist and literary critic Leonid Egorovich Obolensky (1845–1906) and published in 1905.
The book analyzes in detail the psychological and physiological components of laughter. The biological, genetic and sociological foundations of this process are also touched upon.
