The book contains exhaustive information about the pathogens of viral infections and methods of virological laboratory diagnostics based on the syndrome approach. The theoretical foundations of molecular genetic methods already used in medical virology (serological, PCR and others) and technologically new, only included in medical practice (microchips and electron-microscopic studies) are described in detail. Sufficient attention is paid to checking the results of research, as well as their proper statistical processing. Ways to adapt some diagnostic methods with limited financial capabilities of laboratories are proposed.
For specialists-virusologists of scientific and practical diagnostic laboratories, as well as with advanced training of doctors-infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists, pediatricians and general practitioners. The book will be useful for medical students, residents and graduate students
