The attention of readers is offered the classic work of the outstanding French physiologist Claude Bernard (1813–1878), in which the beginning of experimental, or experimental, medicine is presented. The book consists of three parts. The first part contains the author’s discussion about the theoretical part of the scientific method, the observation and experience, truth and doubt, evidence and testing from the contrary, the second part is devoted to the description of experimental methods in physiology, pathology and therapy. In the third part of the idea, developed in the first two parts, are illustrated by examples of experiments conducted by the author, which helps to formulate easily memorable rules.
