The textbook presents organ, tissue, cellular and molecular aspects of the structure and functioning of the immune system in normal and pathology. The components of the immune system, the population of immunocompetent cells, their receptor structures, activation and inhibition of the immune system, the mechanisms of the immune response, the formation of intracellular signaling pathways, the formation of immune memory cells, the structure and functioning of antibodies, the main complex of histocompatibility and genetic control of immunity are considered. Particular attention is paid to the cells of congenital immunity in connection with the increased understanding of the role of this link in the development of an immune response. The clinical section of the textbook describes in detail primary and secondary immunodeficiency (including AIDS), allergic and autoimmune diseases, as well as the principles of immunotropic therapy (replacement, immunomodulating, immunosuppressive and based on monoclonal antibodies).
In the application, the immunological characteristics of the blood, a list of drugs mentioned in the book, as well as a list of Nobel laureates for merits in the field of immunology in the categories of Chemistry and Physiology and Medicine are given.
The textbook is intended for students of medical universities, and will also be useful to clinical residents, graduate students, practicing doctors and scientists
