The monograph outlines modern scientific ideas about the genetics of narcological diseases and the concept of the genetic risk of their development within the framework of the biopsychosocial model of etiology and pathogenesis. The main tasks and methods of clinical and molecular genetics of narcological diseases are formulated. The role of genetic factors in the formation of the risk of developing narcological diseases is analyzed. The data of population and clinical genetic studies in the field of studying diseases of dependence on psychoactive substances (surfactants) are described. The correctness and adequacy of the use of a pathogenetic approach in the study of the genetic mechanisms of the formation of a continuum of narcological diseases, regardless of a specific type of surfactant, is emphasized.
