The training manual sets out materials aimed at students" acquisition of basic knowledge and skills of organizing and conducting epidemiological research and using the principles of evidence in making decisions on preventive and anti -epidemic measures. The activity approach to teaching students was used. Particular attention is paid to the specifics of epidemiological studies of infectious and non -infectious pathology, as well as assessing the effectiveness and safety of medical, preventive and measures, diagnostic and screening studies. The methodology of working with sources of evidence -based information, databases, information systems, the principles of compiling systematic reviews and meta -analysis is reflected. The material is stated in accordance with the educational program of the new course for general epidemiology with the basics of evidence -based medicine. Each of the thematic sections, as well as in the applications, contains modern information sources, existing regulatory and instructive materials. Educational issues are worked out in solving situational problems. For the final control of knowledge, a list of text tasks and questions is presented. The textbook is intended for students of medical universities.
