The book presented to the reader is devoted to fainting - a complex topic that requires a practicing doctor of great clinical experience and encyclopedic knowledge in many medical specialties. For such a multifaceted problem, the volume of the book seems relatively small, the material is presented very concisely, but the book is written interestingly and easily read. Illustrations are of particular value - electrocardiograms with a description of rare clinical cases from the author’s personal archive, who is a specialist in the field of cardiology and invasive electrophysiology, including implantation of devices for the treatment of heart conductivity and rhythm disorders.
The manual emphasizes the exceptional significance of the initial stage of examination of the patient with fainting (clinical survey, examination and ECG) A description of the main modern instrumental techniques is presented, among which an electrophysiological study and an orthostatic test on a rotary table (Tilt test) The whole chapter is reserved for vazazagal fainting, which are the most common cause of attacks of loss of consciousness. The issues of forensic examination in fainting are affected, allowing in some cases driving vehicles and piloting of aircraft.
