About the book
Stories from psychotherapeutic practice Meg Jay, the author of the bestseller "important years". About specific negative life circumstances that her clients and students faced, and what they thought and how they felt in these difficult times.

From the author
In the book I will use the word excess - both as an adjective and as a noun - to describe psychologically stable people. I wanted to play a little with words - and with the concept of normality - and choose a word that will resonate with what it means to feel psychologically stable, which means to live a life beyond the average waiting.

Like superheroes, excessive excluding bullets flying in them and jumping over tall buildings in their way, while very many people around them - even those who are faced with fewer obstacles - do not do this. They are fighting the dangers that they meet with seeming lightness. Many of them continue to achieve what is perceived as a great success, but they themselves do not stop thinking about how much more time they can continue in the same spirit and when they finally "flows from the threads".

Being representatives of the culture who created Superman and the “American Dream”, people often romantize increased mobility in all its forms and sometimes forget about difficulties associated with it: exhaustion, vulnerability, loneliness. In this book, with the help of science and stories of specific people, Meg Jay is trying to answer not only the question "How do they do it?", But also to the question "How do they feel?"

For whom this book
For everyone who is interested in psychotherapy and psychology.
