The manual analyzes approaches to the organization of psychiatric care. The issues of legislation and planning in the field of psychiatry, financing of organizations providing psychiatric assistance, issues of training, the principles and forms of psychiatric care in Russia and other countries are presented. The content of the activities of organizations providing psychiatric assistance is considered from the standpoint of polyprofessional or brigades of patients. Recommendations are presented to ensure the rights of patients, prevention of mental disorders, medical examination, psychosocial rehabilitation. The implementation of the basic principles of the organization of psychiatric assistance is presented in the light of psychiatric reform carried out in the world. The prospects for the development of mental health services are outlined.
