The monograph summarizes the modern principles of diagnosis and surgical treatment of colorectal cancer. Along with clinical data, relevant information about epidemiology, mechanisms of carcinogenesis and pathomorphology of this disease is given. The features of its course in patients of a geriatric profile, which are the most numerous age group, are considered. The main attention is paid to the aspects of the provision of surgical care as the most important, and in some cases the only element of the therapeutic program. The importance of compliance with a personified approach at all stages was demonstrated, starting with the examination and preoperative preparation of patients. The medical diagnostic algorithms that are necessary for the selection and implementation of surgical tactics in elderly patients are considered in detail. The feasibility of the use of reconstructive plastic techniques for local tumors is justified.
