The book consists of three sections devoted to chronic alcoholism, alcohol psychoses and drug addiction. Each of the sections includes information about epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis of the disease. The author pays particular attention to the clinical picture and the differential diagnosis of the described diseases and disorders. Recommendations for treatment are based on these domestic specialists and foreign authors, and the author especially emphasizes the need to combine drug therapy and psychotherapy to achieve a long -term remission of diseases. The work is based on the author’s many years of experience as the head of the department of mental disorders complicated by pathological types of dependence, the Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
