The book affects one of the current areas of respiratory medicine - assisting patients with chronic respiratory failure. Chronic respiratory failure becomes a complication of a number of diseases of the respiratory system and is associated with high mortality rates. The issues of etiology and classification of chronic respiratory failure are discussed in detail. The presentation of the pathophysiology of this condition is supplemented by its own experimental data. The approaches to the treatment of chronic respiratory failure, including respiratory therapy methods, are given for the present time - prolonged oxygen therapy at home and non -invasive ventilation of the lungs.
The book was based on materials obtained in the city pulmonological center created in St. Petersburg on the basis of St. Petersburg GBUZ Vvedenskaya City Clinical Hospital. The authors hope that the experience they have gained will be in demand in other regions of the country.
