The book presents an exhaustive historical outline on the study of the problem of child psychological trauma and its role in the development of mental illness, as well as data related to modern neurobiological markers: neuroimaging findings, electroencephalographic changes, the relationship of these data with the results of genetic and evolutionary studies. The role of childhood traumatic events in the development of individual endogenous mental illnesses, as well as post-traumatic stress disorders, disorders of food behavior, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personal and dissociative disorders, is evaluated. Psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological approaches to patients who survived child injury, who developed mental disorders, are separately discussed.
