This book is an overview of the current state of arthroplasty in veterinary surgery. The preface, written by Marvin Olmsted, tells us about the history and work of the "pioneers" arthroplasty in veterinary medicine for the last quarter of the twentieth century. These people not only developed technology, but also translated arthroplasty through the barrier of that time and made total endoprosthetics of the hip joint with the treatment of choice for veterinarians, as well as domestic animals. The next generation of orthopedic surgeons is important to know all the stages that led us to modern position, and take responsibility for the promotion of science and art of arthroplasty in the future.
As veterinary surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, we are responsible for evaluating the results of endoprosthetics and patients, and also continue to develop implants and methods to improve the results for our patients. The ultimate goal of total joint endoprosthetics is to relieve pain, improve the quality of the patient’s quality by returning the function and improving the relationship between the patient and the client. In addition, the prosthesis should have a service life throughout the patient"s life. Success in achieving these goals is measured by different standards, including retrospective studies that evaluate the patient’s motor functions, as well as customer satisfaction
