The training manual highlights the historical aspects of the treatment of acute appendicitis, presented data on embryology and anatomy of the ileocecal region. Clinical symptoms, the principles of diagnosis of acute appendicitis in children of different ages at the prehospital stage and in a hospital conditions are considered in detail. The classifications of acute appendicitis and its complications are given. The main points of preoperative preparation, as well as options for surgical treatment are indicated.
