The book was written by V.E. Pashkovsky, doctor of medical sciences, leading researcher at the National Medical Research Center of Psychiatry and Neurology named after V.M.Bekhtereva, psychiatrist of the Center for Restorative treatment Children"s Psychiatry named after S.S. Mnukhina (St. Petersburg) The book is based on more than 25 years of experience in treating children with mental disorders, as well as lectures given by the author in the system of additional professional education at the North-West State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikova.
The book discusses the study of children"s autism in the historical aspect. In addition, the data of domestic and foreign scientists on morphology and psychophysiology are given and analyzed. A critical assessment of indicators of the prevalence of autistic spectrum disorders is given. The book highlights such insufficiently studied aspects as high -functional autism and autism in adults. Particular attention is paid to the treatment and abbreviation of children with autism. The author realizes that some of the provisions expressed by him are not shared by everyone, but the book does not have a “protest” orientation at all. Its task is in another: on the one hand, to inform the wide range of readers about the current state of the problem of autism, on the other hand, to stimulate further studies of controversial issues.
The book is addressed to children"s psychiatrists, pediatricians, neurologists. It will be useful to clinical psychologists, correctional teachers, as well as all specialists interested in autism
