This is a book about a new contemporary problem - about the formation of power through the mass media. The author uses the method of discourse analysis to the functioning of the media as a method for the formation of the social opinion of the majority. Using examples from the modern media, the author analyzes the phenomenon of the so-called media system.
The book discusses advertising as a mechanism for the formation and management of consumption, magazines as a special mechanism for the formation of consumer identity, television stories as narrative, reality television, enhancing the inclusion of the audience, television interviews as a way to establish power, comments to events as a way of social discrimination, and interactive media problems.
The book is written by a living language, illustrates and explains new social phenomena, and will be interested in sociologists, linguists, journalists, media specialists, and all those interested in media issues and modern social issues
