The textbook is designed to study mathematics in classes involved in the system of developmental training L.V. Zankova, and is a continuation of textbooks for the first, second and third grades. It contains both the material subject to mandatory study and assimilation at this stage of teaching children at school, and material that expands their general and mathematical horizons. The content of the textbook complies with the requirements for the Federal State Educational Standard for Primary General Education 2009, takes into account the age and individual characteristics of younger students and is built on the basis of the methodological approaches of the development system of L.V. Zankova. The textbook received positive conclusions of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. The textbook is included in the federal list of textbooks recommended for use in the educational process in educational institutions
