The textbook is based on the concept of 'Elementary School of the XXI Century', developed under the guidance of Professor N. F. Vinogradova. It contains theoretical information and a system of exercises designed to form new knowledge, reinforce previously studied material, as well as tasks and exercises of increased complexity level and some information from the history of mathematics. The textbook is used in conjunction with two workbooks (authors V. N. Rudnitskaya, T. V. Yudacheva). Some tasks require the use of cut-out materials: round chips of two colors (10 pieces of each color) and strips of colored paper. Students can make the cut-out materials in a technology class under the guidance of a teacher or at home with their parents. It complies with the Federal State Educational Standard for primary general education.
