The book is devoted to talented mathematics, Moscow Professor Leonid Kuzmich Lakhtin, well known at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, and now undeservedly forgotten. Most of the scientist"s life was associated with Moscow University. In his Alma Mater, he walked a winding path, occupying consistently position: Privat-Assistant, Professor, Assistant Rector, Rector, Dean of the Physics and Mathematics and Against Professor.
L.K. Lachtin became not only an eyewitness, but also one of the main actors of the history of science and education in pre-revolutionary and Soviet Moscow for a number of decades. By the will of fate, he was in the thick of student unrest, revolutionary shocks and the split of professors on the right and left. Reconstruction of these iconic historical events paid special attention.
