The manual is designed for organizing educational and extracurricular activities aimed at developing mathematical literacy characteristics in younger schoolchildren. Mathematical literacy, as a subject component of functional literacy, is characterized by the ability of younger schoolchildren to identify and understand the mathematical essence of educational or real-life (practical) situations, to use the tools of the subject (numbers and arithmetic operations, quantities and measurements, calculations and algorithms) to solve various problems. When working with the manual, students can demonstrate their readiness to handle tasks involving the application of mathematics in unfamiliar practical situations (initial and final tasks), practice completing groups of tasks with a common real-life plot and non-obvious approaches to solving them (training tasks). All tasks correspond to the planned learning outcomes in mathematics (subject-specific and specific to the subject). The tasks are presented by sections of the elementary school mathematics course. They include tasks on understanding and application, explanation and reasoning when solving educational tasks with mathematical content. The manual is developed based on the current Federal State Educational Standard for General Education.
