Motherhood is often spoken of with a sigh, but in real life, relationships between mothers and adult children are often far from ideal. Maternal authority knows no boundaries or expiration date: these relationships affect us throughout our lives, even when we have long since grown up. Conflict with a mother can cause intense pain, mothers can manipulate us, control our every move, and make us give up our interests and desires. According to statistics, the influence of a mother (mother-in-law) is the third leading cause of divorce after alcoholism and infidelity. Women suffering from loneliness, men changing wives or remaining single until 40-50 years old - all these people come to see a psychologist... and sooner or later start talking about their mother.
