Landscape is the most popular genre of painting: it confidently occupies the top spots in sales ratings of posters in the art section, and the most famous and beloved Russian artists (according to surveys) have become landscape painters Ivan Aivazovsky and Ivan Shishkin. This genre is extremely diverse: landscapes capture both real existing views of nature and imaginary ones, natural landscapes (mountains, forests, rivers) and those altered by humans (architectural ensembles, buildings, parks).
The album features over 30 masters of Russian landscape painting. In addition to the famous paintings - the indispensable symbols of national painting, created by brilliant landscape masters - Aivazovsky, Savrasov, Shishkin, Levitan, the works of artists who worked alongside these masters are included. The fame of outstanding contemporaries partly overshadowed their art, but our edition provides an opportunity to discover the works of Kryzhitsky, Endogurov, Gorbachev, and other unfairly forgotten names, to get acquainted with new paintings.
