"Clinical Atlas of Trigger Points" is a unique illustrated manual for students and practitioners. The book describes about 100 muscles: possible places of the occurrence of trigger points, their causes, symptoms and characteristic patterns of pain irradiation. Particular attention is paid to the issues of differential diagnosis of trigger points.
The clinical atlas of trigger points will become a desktop book for manual therapists, osteopaths, physiotherapists, medical physical education specialists and massage specialists.
The purpose of this publication is to draw up a brief pointer for trigger points for students and specialists. See section "Recommended literature" at the end of this pointer in order to read in more detail the scientific literature by trigger points.
The trigger point (TT) is called the supersensitive zone in the skeletal muscle. Often at these sensitive points you can feel tense muscle fibers and dense nodules. Pressure on TT is often painful and can cause irradiating pain and convulsive muscle contraction.
An irritation of active TT often causes sustainable irradiation of pain, usually in the distal direction. For example, irritation of TT in a small breast muscle can cause irradiation of pain in the entire area of the chest, shoulder, forearm and arm.
TT are often formed in the middle of muscle fibers. Knowing the anatomy of muscle fibers will help you in the search for trigger points.
The book describes the characteristics of some TT for each muscle
