In a sense, these are not just reprints, but an attempt to make a modern book, preserving the logic and energy of the first publications. These are not reprints and purely technically: some books used the originals of illustrations from museum and private collections, and in original drawings - there are no fonts and inscriptions, we reconstructed them in such cases.
The idea was to maintain the attraction of the drawings themselves, to leave the opportunity to perceive these books as children"s, but at the same time emphasize the significance of artists for the history of domestic art of the 20th century. It is no secret that in a children"s illustration, a galaxy of creators (or heirs) of the avant -garde, who lost other sales areas, found a refuge in a children"s illustration. The Leningrad School, the circle of students of Petrov-Vodkin and the staff of the editorial office of V. Lebedev-before us, a living story of suppressed Russian modernism, many artists (as well as a number of writers) have successfully embodied in children"s literature what seemed impossible in the official mainstream. Therefore, each book is accompanied by a short afterword of a specialist placing a work in the context of art history
