The name of the fighter pilot A.P. Maresyev has become well-known in books, movies, and school textbooks as the name of a person of unwavering will and greatest courage, bravery, and heroism. Who knows if the Soviet Union would have withstood that terrible and bloody war if it hadn't been for true patriots of the Motherland like A.P. Maresyev. In the post-war and subsequent years, thousands of heroes were raised on the example of his bright feat; he instilled faith and restored hope to a great many people who found themselves in difficult life situations for one reason or another. This book is currently the only complete biography of the legendary pilot, a legendary figure. It is based on the memories of both A.P. Maresyev himself and the memories of his fellow countrymen, classmates, comrades-in-arms, military leaders, colleagues, etc. Organically woven into the narrative are materials that the author found in the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, and the Central Archive of Military Medical Documents - a branch of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and presented to the reader for the first time.
