The book is a study of the life and activities of the famous Golden Horde political and statesman Mamai. Over the centuries, his extremely negative image has been formed in historiography, the image of a so-called anti-hero of history. The author of the book tries to reconstruct the real biography of Mamai, shed light on some of its contradictory aspects (including Mamai's origin, his status, relations with khans and foreign rulers), and also trace the process of creating such a negative image of this figure over several centuries.
