The heroine of the story is little Lady Escot, a girl who lives 'in a happy fairy tale'. At least, that's what the village children think of her. Her parents spoil Maggie, shower her with gifts, and fulfill every wish. The girl believes that this is how it should be. And only after meeting the poor children of London does she change her attitude towards life. This touching story is about the birth of mercy and compassion in a person's soul.
Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith (1844-1914) is a famous English writer, author of more than three hundred works for children and adolescents. The story 'Maggie, the Capricious Princess' is published in Russian for the first time.
