The magazine New Literary Review (UFO) was created in 1992 by the philologist and historian of culture Irina Prokhorova and became the first independent humanitarian periodical in the post -Soviet space. Subsequently, he gave the name to the entire publishing complex arising around the magazine.
At the beginning of its existence, the UFO was thought of as a center of unification of leading scientists around the world, studying Russian literature, history and culture. With the development of scientific thought and the formation of a new humanitarian field in Russia, the magazine constantly expanded the range of its tasks and eventually became an interdisciplinary publication focused on the most complete and objective coverage of the modern state of humanities, the adaptation of new intellectual trends for studying Russian culture, the integration of the domestic academic tradition in World scientific community.
The Red Council UFO includes the most famous Russian and Western specialists in the humanities. Materials published in UFO are included in the program for the mandatory training of students of humanitarian universities.
“New Literary Review” is included in the list of reviewed scientific publications of the All -Russian Certification Commission and in the collection “Arts & Humanites” by the International database “Web of Science”.
“New Literary Review” is the only Russian humanitarian magazine, the publication of which is taken into account by leading American universities when hiring or awarding a lifelong professor (Tenure) In British universities, publications at UFO are taken into account to determine the status and, accordingly, the level of state financing of the Slavic departments during the national certification of universities
