For more than sixty years, the death of the Novorossiysk battleship has remained an unhealed wound for relatives of the dead sailors and not passing sadness for Sevastopol, sharing all joys and troubles with the fleet. Among the disasters of the Soviet Navy was not a more tragic story than this that happened on October 29, 1955 in the northern Bay of Sevastopol. At 01.30.30 on October 29, 1955, under the battleship of Novoriossiysk, which stood in the Sevastopol Bay on anchor parking lot No. 3, a powerful explosion thundered. After 2 hours, 45 minutes, despite all the measures taken to save him, the battleship turned upside down and sank, taking away the lives of more than six hundred sailors.
Based on a critical review of previously not published memories related to the topic, the author offers his view of events related to the catastrophe of the battleship.
The author thanks the daughter of the former commander ETD Lincor - Irina Efimovna Rudenko (Matusevich) for photographs from the family archive provided at his disposal
