Creativity S.N. Shil (1863-1928) - a little -known page in the history of Russian literature of the late XIX - early XX centuries. As a poetess, a translator, a descent writer, a playwright, a memoirist, a collector of folklore and a researcher, she left her mark, who was nearly lost among the multi -volume editions of the masters of the era or bright fashion names - as they would now say - a challenge of time, morality, tradition and culture. Her work, which reflected both populist and modernist sentiments, developed in line with Russian and European thought. She was familiar with L.N. Tolstoy and R.M. Rilke, L.A. Andreas-Salome and V. Bryusov, V.G. Korolenko and I.A. Ilyin. The collection presents her original poems, translations from J. Byron, Novalis, D.G. Rosetti, P. Verlen, M. Meterlink, A. de Musset, V. Ridberg and R.M. Rilke, memoir prose, in particular memories of L.N. Tolstoy and R.M. Rilke, correspondence with R.M. Rilke, P.N. Sakulin, Ya.Z. Chernyak and others. Many texts are published for the first time
