The magazine "Our Contemporary" was founded in 1956. Its leading authors were Valentin Rasputin, Vasily Belov, Vasily Shukshin, Vadim Kozhinov, Viktor Astafyev, Gabriel Troepolsky, Valentin Pikul, Igor Shafarevich and many other famous writers and publicists of Russia. For more than a quarter of a century, the magazine has been headed by Stanislav Yuryevich Kunyaev. Nowadays, Alexander Kazintsev, Sergey Kunyaev, Alexander Segen, Evgeny Shishkin, Stanislav Zotov are constantly being published in the journal. The authors of the magazine are now Zakhar Prilepin, Roman Senchin, Sergey Shargunov, Alexander Prokhanov, Mikhail Tarkovsky, Valery Ganichev, Vladimir Bushin, Andrei Fursov and many other famous modern writers and publicists.
