In the famous monument of Christian asceticism, called “ladder”, the Monk John Climacus showed how step by step, a step behind a step, as if along a spiritual ladder, each Christian should ascend to God. This is a solid guideline and the main milestones of such an ascent, so as not to go astray, skillfully and competently overcome the obstacles inevitably arising on the way to God, always see the ultimate goal and methods of its achievement, or at least ways of approaching it. 30 steps of “ladder” are taught to fight not only sins, but also with passions nesting inside a person, educate and nurture virtues, and help to fight spiritual impurity. The preface gives a brief description of the Life of Abva John, compiled by the monk of Raifsky Daniel. At the end, the book is equipped with an alphabetical pointer. The publication is designed for a wide audience of Orthodox readers
