The book is a historical and philological study based on texts, united by the fact that they, directly or indirectly, reflect one historical fact - "disposition of faith", i.e. the religious dispute that occurred in 1570 between the king of Ivan Grozny and Protestant pastor Jan Rockyt, who arrived in Moscow as part of the Polish-Lithuanian embassy. For the first time, the entire body of texts is analyzed - both handwritten and printed, in which contemporaries reflected this event. The central place in the study occupies the exchange of written evidence following this meeting: "confession" rokitis, on the one hand, and "answer" king pastor - on the other. Detailed philological analysis, supported by the study of historical events, allows us to substantiate some common conclusions about the literary classes of the king
