“Lullabies of unknown streets” is a study of the theme of homelessness in modern Russia. This study was carried out at the junction of social journalism, journalism and genre of oral history. Most of the book consists of stories of people who have lost housing and forced to live on the street, in the nights, entrances, working houses, stations and in abandoned buildings. The stories of the homeless about their lives are touching, sad, funny, and sometimes shocking. All of them are simultaneously evidence of the power of the human spirit and the fundamental indifference of the official authorities to the poor.
Among dozens of stories about the loss of housing in the book are the opinions of representatives of the administration of the night, daytime centers and workers of the houses of Moscow, the Moscow Region, Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Tver. Their point of view allows you to supplement the disappointing picture of homelessness in the country. “Lullabies of unknown streets” is a critical view of Russian social policy, pushing millions of people on the side of life.
