One of the modern biographers of the great German composer wrote: "None of the great men had a love life more full, more painful, and at times more tragic than Richard Wagner. This wonderful musician, who created a new world with his art, drew his best inspirations from love." And indeed, the three main heroines of Wagner's love drama create a true trilogy. These are his first wife Minna Planer, Mathilde Wesendonck - the muse of "Tristan" - and finally, Cosima Bülow, the composer's second wife, who became the embodiment of Brünnhilde.
