The literary talent of the author manifested itself in this book to no less than in the previous two. Perhaps, even here, not cassed with conventions and restrictions of the documentary form, Lev Marjsev gave a greater will with his lyrical romantic feelings, witty yumor, stinging satire. At the same time, he retained the tendency to draw expressive portraits, to get involved in the colorful details of the era, and also resort to publicistic retreats when it seemed necessary, especially since today they sound quite relevant.
