The monograph discusses theoretical issues of long-term training of football players in a sports academy. The methodology allows describing the entire procedure of researching long-term training of football players. The analysis of training programs provides an understanding of the differences existing in domestic and foreign systems of long-term training of football players in state structures and professional team academies. The development and justification of criteria and a program for sports selection and specialization determine the direction of the long-term training process in football academies of the Russian Federation. Programming training loads at the stages of sports preparation helps address issues related to improving the level of sports readiness during the annual training cycle stages. The organization of the training process in football academies is considered a key element of effective preparation of sports reserves. The monograph is aimed at bachelor's, master's, and postgraduate students of sports universities, as well as coaches working with professional teams and students of sports schools.
