However, why is his dramatic legacy still considered as evidence of his lack of talent - both in the field of drama and in the sphere of historical thought? The book by N. Trantseva 'Lomonosov - Shakespeare's Rival?' is an attempt to restore Lomonosov's good name as a great playwright and conscientious historian. The author's experience of reading the 'Lomonosov canon' offers a reevaluation of the poet-titan's contribution to the history of theater in Russia. This same experience also prompts reflection on the autobiographical component of the tragedy 'Demofont' as a source of the version about M. V. Lomonosov's royal origins. The book is intended for a wide audience.
