The textbook is devoted to the study of local heat transfer in piston engines. A significant part of it is written on the basis of the results obtained in the MSTU. N.E. Bauman. A number of issues in the theory of piston engines are considered for the first time. This textbook, written on the basis of a textbook with the same name (1st ed. - 2001, 2nd ed. - 2007), includes new materials that reflect the achievements of recent years in this area of ​​science. The content of the textbook corresponds to the course of lectures, which the author gives to the MSTU named after N.E. Bauman.
