Wilhelm Hauff (1802—1827) is one of the most famous storytellers in the world, alongside H.C. Andersen, Charles Perrault, and others. Hauff loved books from childhood and enjoyed reading them, fortunately, his grandfather had a large library. After graduating from the University, Hauff became a tutor for the children of Baron Ernst von Hügel. It was for them that he wrote his first fairy tales, among which was the tale "Little Muck," which was published in 1826. The following year saw the release of a second collection of fairy tales, which included "Dwarf Nose." Hauff traveled a lot during his lifetime, and his fairy tales whimsically intertwine European and Eastern motifs, transporting readers into a world of wonders. The collection features a classic translation of the fairy tales by Mikhail Salie — an orientalist and philologist.
