The monograph is dedicated to Soviet literature of fact as the realization of the program of production art in the field of literature. At the center of the research is the figure of Sergey Tretyakov, who unites his biography with the first (pre-revolutionary) experiments of futurist zaum with the first Congress of Soviet Writers, and accordingly, most of the theoretical debates of the period. The author traces the different ways Tretyakov "to be a writer" within the framework of the Soviet revolution of language and media - in production poetry, psychotechnical drama, and "our epic - the newspaper." Each stage of these experiments requires modification of the analytical apparatus from a purely semiotic prism through psychophysiology of perception to media analysis of carriers. The concluding part of the book is devoted to how literature of fact intersects with similar tendencies in the German and French left avant-garde (often under the direct influence of Tretyakov's ideas, as in the case of Benjamin and Brecht), and then continues in the form of factography, such as Varlam Shalamov's "new prose." Pavel Arsenyev is a poet and literary theorist, chief editor of the journal [Translit], laureate of the Andrei Bely Prize (2012). He holds a Doctor of Letters degree from the University of Geneva (2021), is a research fellow at the University of Grenoble (UMR "Litt&Arts") and a fellow at the Collège de France, specializing in the material-technical history of literature of the 19th-20th centuries.
