The goal of working with this manual is to develop second graders' ability to read and understand texts of different genres, extract and analyze necessary information, predict the content of a text based on available information, formulate the theme, answer questions about the text, and express their own opinion about what they have read. The system of tasks presented in this manual (working with words, sentences, texts) sequentially develops these skills, awakens interest in reading, contributes to the overall development of the child, their spiritual-moral and aesthetic upbringing.
The manual can be used by educators working with the program by L. F. Klimanova, M. V. Boykina (UMK 'School of Russia') during literary reading lessons or extracurricular activities.
