The study manual addresses the history of the formation of editorial skills in Russia, the theory and practice of modern editing are analyzed. In the first chapter, the author shows the process of origin, the formation and development of editing as an independent activity. In the second chapter of the training manual, different aspects of the editorial approach to the manuscript are revealed: the editorial analysis methodology and the types of editing, methods of presentation and work on the composition of manuscripts, etc. Included in the text of the manual as an application exercise applications give students the opportunity to acquire practical skills of literary editing.
