Petr Petrovsky (Sheimanidze P. Ya.) was born on October 15, 1930. After graduating from medical school, he worked as a doctor in various regions of Russia, spent 10 years at the Sklifosovsky Institute of Emergency Medicine, engaged in scientific activities, published over 20 scientific papers, proposed new research methods that were included in medical textbooks. Petr Yakovlevich was baptized at the age of 60 and dedicated himself to serving God. In the 1990s, thanks to his project and generosity, a temple was built in Crimea in the name of St. Mitrofan of Voronezh. For his work, he was awarded the Order of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir by the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, Vladimir. Since 1993, Petr Yakovlevich has been serving at the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery, assisting the abbot and working as a referent in the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church. For many years, he has been the steadfast administrator of the International Christmas Educational Readings. For his services to the Church, he was awarded the Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh, 3rd degree, the Order of St. Daniel of Moscow, 3rd degree, and the medal "For Faith and Fatherland." Every day, he reads akathists in front of the revered shrines of the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery, regularly conducts tours of the monastery, vividly telling its history. In preparing this book for publication, it was decided to make as few editorial changes to the author's text as possible in order to preserve its conversational style, characteristic of one of the oldest workers of the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery - the servant of God, Petr.
