Dina is just going to school, just finds a new family, just gets acquainted with adults. Everything in her life happens for the first time - both good and bad. Good is friends, toys, grandmother stories, a marvelous coniferous forest in the light mountains. Bad is a misunderstanding between parents, the worst thing is that Dina is to blame.
The story “Light Mountains” is full of memorable, living heroes: anyone who remembers childhood recognizes their own grandfathers and grandmothers, mother’s friends or neighboring older boys. All of them, even non-native and even unfriendly ones-like one big family, because in a small town every someone is a kum, brother, matchmaker.
Dina has not yet learned the words “kum” and “matchmaker”, but she begins to experience nursing feelings for others. And most importantly, it begins to understand the experiences of others: it turns out that adults are not so decisive and omniscient, but what is not so perfect there. It’s early to grow up to the girl, a book and not about growing up - she is about how a world for a child gradually becomes more complicated, richer, and more multifaceted
