The first part of the trilogy by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor L. V. Belovinsky, "Life of the Russian Commoner," as indicated by the title "Izba and Khoromy," examines practically all aspects of the daily life of people in pre-revolutionary Russian villages: social and material status, occupations and pastimes, housing, tools and food, appearance and forms of address, education and punishment system, psychology, customs, norms of behavior, and more. The second part of the trilogy is dedicated to the Russian town from the 18th to the early 20th century. It covers its development, management, infrastructure, industry and trade, public and spiritual life, and the entertainment of townspeople. The concluding part continues the description of the Russian town. Just as diverse was its external appearance, so was the composition of urban commoners. Not to mention that about half of the urban population, and sometimes even more, consisted of peasants-seasonal workers who migrated from the village, and sometimes permanent residents, and it was the townspeople who included members of the imperial family. 2nd edition, revised and expanded.
