At the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, Nizhny Novgorod experienced the rise period. The merchant city turned into industrial, and this was reflected in the life of the townspeople.

Seven sections of the new album show the daily, non -paradant life of the Nizhny Novgorod residents - from governors and polysmasters to movers and tramps. On the Volga and the Oka, steamboats walked in a series, on the streets the screams of cabs mixed with the calls of the first trams, the upper and lower parts of the city were struck by the contrast of wealth and poverty, the fair was seething behind the river. The museum and new theaters opened their doors for visitors. Here, in Nizhny, Glory came to the most famous natives of the Volga region - Maxim Gorky and Fedor Chaliapin.

Thanks to the skill of the Nizhny Novgorod photographers of previous years, fused with the contemporary art of writing books, we can plunge into a life that is so unlike our today and at the same time not so distant. This album differs from such publications not only by the presence of rare photographs and newspaper publications of past centuries, but with high quality printing and exquisite design.

Album is a real work of art and an excellent New Year"s gift
