This collection is devoted to the study of the theological and literary heritage of Leonty of Byzantine, the famous theologian and polemicist of the VI century, whose works still remain insufficiently studied in Russia, while in the West in the XIX-XX centuries. Dozens of research were devoted to him. The modern Russian reader is known only to brief references to Leonty of Byzantine in the works of Archpriest George Florovsky and Protopresvilter John Meyendorf. There is still no full Russian translation of a single treatise Leonty of Byzantine. The situation is also complicated by the fact that until now even Western scientists have not come to the final opinion about the difference between at least five Leontians who lived in the VI century: Leontia of the Byzantine, Leontia Scholasti (or Pseudo-Leonthia), Leontia, the monk of Jerusalem, Leonty, Leonty, Leonty, Presbyter of Constantinople, and Leonty, Presbyter of Jerusalem. In other words, we are talking about whether Corpus Leontianum belongs ("Leontievsky Corps"), consisting of at least seven treatises, not counting the Homilia and fragments, one author (which has traditionally considered Leonty Byzantine) or several authors. Without claiming the completeness and finality, the proposed collection of research is called upon to at least partially replenish this gap and give the modern Russian reader the necessary information about the composition of Corpus Leontianum, its alleged authorship, the structure and content of the theological works.
