The book is the first in domestic historiography to the Russian language of the outstanding monument of the Byzantine military-scientific literature, known as the "Tactic of Lion". The author of the treaty is the emperor of the Macedonian dynasty Lev Vi wise, the time of creating an essay is determined by the chronological framework of their stay on the throne of this ruler (886-912) Translation of the "Tactics" was carried out by its building in the "Greek Patracy" J.-P. Mina (Paris, 1863. T. 107), also used the unfinished edition of the treatise, published in Budapest in 1917-1922. Under the leadership of Academician R. Var, and the newest publication of the source, undertaken by J. Dennis (Washington, 2010) Considered the publication of individual fragments of the Tactics in translations into modern languages. The text of the translation is presented an introductory article in which the main problem of the treatise (authorship, dating, the history of creation, structure, sources, the degree of dependence on the preceding literature and the scope of the effect on the subsequent) are presented
